Yesterday we introduced Opal to our new kittens. We haven't had cats for a couple of years, so neither she nor Laddie have ever met any here. (Not sure if Laddie was exposed prior to our getting him, but Opal was born here, so hers is definitely a new experience). Anyway, I was super impressed with her gentle, nurturing response, and thankfully, caught it on video. I'm sure there will be some chase behaviour needing correction at some point as the kittens get more playful, but for a first time greeting, it was phenomenal. I particularly like how she voluntarily lay down to greet the gray one. This is an excellent example of the classic English Shepherd nurturing trait. Video: Opal meeting Kittens
Laddie was introduced a couple of days ago and he also was very gentle. However, I was home alone and holding the kittens, so no pics or video, unfortunately.
Here Opal shows quite high interest, but still did not chase :)
She decided to sit to watch.
