Misty x Laddie Pups!! Week 2

Misty x Laddie pups are 14 days old today. Misty is a confident and accomplished mama, and with only 4 pups to look after, pups are kept pristine and growing uniformly in leaps and bounds.

Dec 28th, pups in the clean nest. Such a difference in size already between then and now! And getting more mobile too.

Short clip from Dec 31, pups in the laundry basket for nest cleaning, and also on Dec 28th.

Then, a super sweet clip of pups nursing mama New Year's Eve. LOVE that lil tail!

On Dec 29th, I made a vet check / shot appointment for Feb 7. (7 wks). And, this time I also made a vet appointment for 10 weeks as well, so that if we have any to ship, we aren't scrabbling to be able to get the required pre-flight wellness check.

PLUS, ES puppy handbooks have been ordered from the ES Club in the States, too, which should give lots of time for them to arrive.

And, I KNOW there are only 4 pups... but they were too cute all cuddled together NOT to share more than one pic, lol :p

We've had several limited sets of visitors over the holidays, so pups were handled a few times by (freshly washed) cuddlers. No pics since I was snuggling puppy breath, too. Misty was fantastic with all comers once the first few days post partum were through (even then, she was kind, just hyper vigilant and stressed that her pups were being handled, so we cut that particular visit short). After Christmas, she sat calmly and even leaned towards people, inviting attention and pets. People commented on her calm, sweet nature.

The ES world jokes about how it must be a breed trait that they sleep on their backs... well, ours are getting an early start, lol :p

Today (Jan 3) was day 14 of 16 of the ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) and ESI (Early Scent Introduction) protocols. We started a few days late on ESI due to Christmas, but even still, they have been intentionally exposed to 35 new smells so far. (Some protocols only call for 1 scent / day over 16 days. We do 5 / day).

More info on the protocols we do here. I took a quick vid of Spot experiencing the chilly portion of ENS on Saturday Jan 1, 2022.

Misty frequently nurses puppies while sitting, but she lay down just as I got my camera on today. I love how much they're starting to move, and express themselves. Dreaming, and attempting to climb, walk, and sit. In addition, the quads got weighed again today, and their front nails trimmed.

And we now have peepers!! :) 3 of the 4 pups have eyes fairly open, though very short sighted and bleary yet. The fourth's are just starting to crack & glimmer.

Pics of individual pups.

PLEASE NOTE: Any temperament observations are EXTREMELY preliminary and fluid at this young age.
