Our remaining Misty x Laddie pup, Trey, is already 4 months old! This boy had an almost month long sabbatical, spending time learning dog language and manners with his dam beside the bucks and adult Kune Kunes while I packed up my parents', cleaned their house, and moved them to another province. (Not to mention, continued raising a litter of Armenian Gampr LGD pups and got them started on training, and transported in that timeframe, too...)
So, other than a couple of trips to the pasture - once on Mar 27, and the other time on Apr 14 where we did some focus work - we just got back into training today, Apr 22, 2022. It was like we'd never taken a break. He cheerfully participated in the sessions, and was quick to catch onto learning the beginnings of heel work and down stay. I also introduced him to a brush. He did find the grooming very pleasant, soaking it up, then part way through did some wriggling around on his back exposing his belly for pets and briefly goofing around a little bit with it but did settle. Considering it was the first time I'd put the brush on him I was very happy with the overall outcome.

Trey took easily to heel work today until our old ninja cat came along - and pup still listened remarkably well for it being our first day, but there was definitely extra distraction there with the cat literally rubbing himself in his face! I had to gently toss a few snowballs near the tom to get him to leave us alone, lol.
Out on our walk - sitting nicely after moving cat to a distance.
The down stay also went well. We had the typical attempts to get up and down a few times but he figured out what I wanted pretty quickly.
Here's what the beginning looked like.
Then, Vid of final down stay.
I also trimmed his nails, which I haven't done for weeks and he just calmly observed the world while I did them all :)
Trey has had all 3 shots, been vet checked twice, and dewormed a couple of times. He's had exposure to marker training, sound desensitization, crates, socialization with several different groups of people, litter box, goats, pigs, and poultry, vehicle / vet trips, and overall body handling, among other things.
Most years we never make it to Edmonton even once. However, I am suddenly planning yet another trip to Edmonton this coming week for a funeral.
If anyone wants Trey to hitch a ride along the way to Edmonton please contact me by Wed, Apr 27, 2022. This opportunity is way less expensive than a custom trip.
Pics & description
1) Trey (m) Tri-color - Available
This boy was supposed to go to the States, but through no fault of his own ended up available again.
Trey no longer minds being picked up; he's come to realize that it means we're going on an adventure. He is a sweet softy who likes nothing better than to cuddle up to me and gaze soulfully into my eyes while I pet him, and he wags cheerfully when he's meeting new people. He ran to the strange temperament tester and cuddled up to her with a very waggy, submissive down. He retrieved during his test. He has toy drive.
He's medium high energy with an off switch (NOT hyper). That's what I love about most ES - they're ready to go when you are but are equally happy with down time. He, like any working breed, will need exercise and mental stimulation, but as a whole, English Shepherds are NOT obsessive like BC's or Mals. Trey is a sweet lover boy who will do best with an owner with some dog experience who knows how to continue building his confidence and socializing him through many pleasant new experiences both at home and elsewhere to take him to his full potential. He has already come a long way and is fun to work with. He LOVES food, and toys. He, like his bros, is interested in working with me, and making eye contact. And, like Spot, he was a mid-range pup for scenting during the ESI protocols.
This is our last litter for the foreseeable future. Don't miss out on the opportunity to get the final Misty x Laddie pup.
