13 week Update & Pics

We trained outside for the first time today. The pups took to the training like ducks to water even with the added distractions of dogs barking (Blue did need to to reply a couple of times before settling down to the business at hand.), and new equipment being used for the various commands.

The cat meandering past did cause a brief flurry of interest, but each pup soon came back on the run to continue training.

I used a scaffold with a sheet over it to create the tunnel for 'through'.

No hesitations on either pup's part even though they had to jump over or crawl under the support bar for the scaffold to complete the task.

A boulder was used for 'up' & 'on'. My clothes basket got dragged over to the fire pit for a snowy - but more stable- 'in' & 'out'. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of those before dark.

<< Blue was just about to scratch his collar here.

Today was also the first day either pup wore a collar & short leash. Blue basically ignored it other than to chew on the leash briefly when I was busy editing pics, or the occasional sit to scratch the newfangled thing.

Silver accepted the collar well, but thought she should maybe fight being led for a bit, but soon acquiesced.

Black & white animals- especially those that like to be right in one's face like these pups- are so difficult to take good pictures of, so I placed each pup up on the mesh top of our pen holding a Myotonic (fainting) kid goat in the hopes that I'd get better angle and lighting.

Blue was not fazed in the slightest. He had a great time visiting with the cat, and gazing down upon the (black & white) kid. (Click arrows to view series of pics)

Silver found it a bit daunting to be up on something see thru & wiggly, 4' off the ground. Not so much that she shut down, but she didn't look very happy in her pictures, and was more interested in getting OFF than in greeting the cat. So majority of her pictures were taken inside. Will have to do some more time on the pen top with her in the future.
