English Shepherds are a uniquely versatile rare breed of farm collie. Traditionally an all-round farm helper, the English Shepherd has also been used for hunting and as a watch dog in addition to being an affectionate family companion. More recently there has been a growing interest in the ES as an athlete for competitive events such as agility, barn hunt, fast cat, dock diving, herding, nosework, and even some fly ball and frisbee in addition to other jobs such as SAR and therapy work. Marathon runners, hikers, and ski/bikejoring aficionados have also enjoyed this breed. But one of the traits they're most renowned for is their OFF switch. While ES love to join you in your activities, they're just as happy to settle down at your feet when the activity is complete. Overall these dogs are sweet, intelligent, eager to please shadows who have an affinity for traditions, etiquette, and rule keeping. However, they can have a bossy side which can appear if leadership is lacking. Consistency in training, having clear rules, and an understanding of their unique combination of traits and instincts is the key to arriving at a dog that is a pleasure to own, wonderful family or sporting dog, or full working farm partner.

My goal is to find the best homes for my puppies and I have their best interest at heart. To help me get to know my prospective puppy owners better, plus assist me in recommending a puppy/temperament that is suitable to your needs, I ask the following questions regarding what you are looking for in an English Shepherd. You may either Contact us to receive an email address by which you may return your completed application or, time permitting, mail to the address on our Contact page. Completion of the application does not guarantee that I will have a puppy that meets your needs. Puppy Purchase Information

If, once your application has been reviewed, I feel your home would be a potential match for a puppy, and you still so desire, a $200.00 deposit is required to hold a puppy for you, due once litter is on the ground. This will be applied to the price of the puppy.

The deposit is non-refundable unless we are unable to match you with a puppy, then it is fully refundable. Once a deposit has been received, you will be moved to the seriously committed list and, once pups are temperament tested at 7 weeks, the matching will begin.

The balance of payment will be due at time of pick up or a few days prior to shipment to allow for required vetting & health certificate, purchase of shipping materials and flight reservation.

Sadly, due to Covid effects, shipping by air is NO longer available through Dawson Creek or Fort St John airports. Pick up is encouraged or special arrangements can be made to ship through Edmonton.

All shipping costs- such as crate, absorptive pad, transport to airport, vet health certificate and flight ticket are additional and the responsibility of the buyer.

**PLEASE NOTE** All pups must be paid for & picked up or shipped by 10 weeks of  age or within 2 weeks of sending deposit-
WHICHEVER is LATER. Any pup that remains unpaid and/or uncollected within that time frame (u
nless special arrangements have been agreed to) are subject to a boarding/training fee of $10 / day for one (1) week, after which deposit is forfeit and pup will become available for purchase again.

Example 1.  Pup deposit is received at 1 week of age, buyer would have until ten (10) weeks of age to pay for & pick up or ship pup.  If pup has not been paid for and/or collected by the end of that time frame, boarding & training fees of $10 per day will apply up to 11 weeks of age. If pup remained unpaid or uncollected after eleven (11) weeks of age (unless special arrangements were agreed to) pup would be resold to another buyer and any monies paid forfeited.

Example 2. Pup deposit is placed at ten (10) weeks of age, pup must be paid for & picked up or shipped by twelve (12) weeks of age. If pup was not paid for and/or collected by the end of that time frame, boarding & training fees of $10 per day would apply up to thirteen (13) weeks of age. If pup remained unpaid or uncollected by thirteen (13) weeks of age (unless special arrangements were  agreed to) pup would be resold to another buyer and any monies paid forfeited.

My litters will be registered with the English Shepherd Club Registry (ESC). Litter registration papers will be mailed in once all pups are purchased (in order to have all the pertinent details required: owners names & their chosen names for pups) OR at 18 weeks of age - whichever comes first. I allow people to choose their pup's registration name up until the 9 week mark; you have a maximum limit of 40 characters with the ESC.

However, I do require that all puppies' names have the abbreviation ssacres in them somewhere. The ESC then sends the papers to me to be forwarded to the new owners.

All my dogs are UKC registerable, as well, but I have NOT registered them with that organization. However, since the UKC has recognized the English Shepherd breed since 1927, the buyer is still able to choose to register their pup with them (limit 30 characters per dog name), if they so wish. The appropriate application for single registration is found here.

The puppies will have been vet checked, dewormed at least once - more if needed - and given their first vaccination. Your puppy will come with a 4 day illness guarantee. This guarantees the puppy to be healthy at the time of purchase. (The reason I only offer a 4 day guarantee is due to factors beyond my control once pup leaves my place. For instance, Parvo has a 5-7 day incubation period. Any pup that becomes ill after 5 days would have been exposed after leaving my property.)

I highly recommend that you have your vet give a puppy exam within 5 days of pup leaving my place. If puppy becomes seriously ill within 4 days and your vet believes the illness was contracted from my place, I will need information showing this from your vet.

If this is the case and proof is received, I will provide a 50% refund of the purchase price of said puppy unless the puppy dies or is euthanized as a result of said illness. In that case, upon veterinarian proof of death, I will replace with a different puppy if available, or fully refund the purchase price of the pup.

Your puppy comes with a guarantee of satisfaction. If you are not happy with your puppy or cannot keep your puppy at any time in its life, for any reason, you are asked to notify me and give first right of refusal or the opportunity to assist with re-homing said dog.

All puppies are typically introduced to basic training at 4 weeks old, using positive reinforcement.

They are temperament tested and vetted/structure evaluated to make sure they are sound, healthy puppies. I also try to test them on ducks for a glimpse at herding instinct / prey drive (weather permitting) to help ensure appropriate & successful placement.

Unless prior agreed with buyer, all pups are sold with registration, a free 30 day Trupanion health insurance offer**, and an ES Puppy Handbook included in the price.

Most pups are also sold with a Housetraining e-book and an online course, 'Your Puppy from 8 weeks to 12 months' from the US based company, Leerburg, which - if included - are also part of the pup price. (any questions, feel free to ask!)
Of course, also included in the price are:

   *health testing of the parents

   *vet check

*first vaccination (please let me know if you do NOT want your purchased pup to have a           shot)

   *deworming,

*exposure to crate training, ESI and ENS
   *a start on litter training

*if at all possible, an intro to marker training (one year I severed a tendon mid-puppy               rearing... so I cannot always promise this, but I do as much as I can).
*And, lifetime breeder support.  (List updated Jan 8, 2024)

Please see my Resource page for other materials you may find helpful. (However, the items on the Resource page are not included in purchase price).

**Upon purchase of a pup, you will receive a Trupanion code from me you can use to go online or call to activate within 24 hours before and after your pup's arrival to receive free immediate coverage for 30 days. SO WHATS THE CATCH? The best part is, there is none!

No credit card or banking information is required to set up your free trial. You will have the option of extending coverage for a fee if so desired, but there is NO pressure; at the end of the 30 days it will simply fall off and you won’t have to worry about a thing. No annoying phone calls, just 30 days of  health coverage for your pup.

**Please note that our prices reflect the import and health testing costs of our breeding pairs, along with some of the costs of care, breed club membership, registration, vetting, and puppy packet materials.

I take great pride and responsibility in the puppies I raise. I like to hear how your puppy is doing and am available at any time for advice or assistance you may need. If I cannot answer your question, I will try to find someone who can. There is a large support group within the English Shepherd breed community, and I encourage you to become part of it.
