Misty x Laddie pups Week 2

So, my busy week got away from me. The Misty x Laddie pups turned 2 weeks old yesterday! We have peepers open on almost all of the pups! They are starting to explore the world with bleary eyed wonder. I turned a radio on yesterday because I'm expecting them to start reacting to sound soon as well.

The pups got far more mobile this week, starting from very hesitant and tipsy partial steps, to up on all fours, albeit still wobbly.

Misty is feeding the pups from a sitting position the majority of the time now. In the video, I stated they would be "2 weeks old tomorrow", but... as I said, my week got away from me. They were actually 2 weeks old right then, lol :p A video from today shows how patiently she does her best to accommodate her many pups. So pleased with her Mama skills.

However, we are still getting her to feed the smaller pups first a couple of times per day. Here's a video of that from today, including the 'lie back' command. Please excuse the shakiness - teaches me to switch hands part way through. We started to reduce the temperature of both the room heater and the heating pads under the pups this week as they develop the ability to regulate their own body temperatures.

Puppy weights. Blue won the big bruiser award this week at 3.13 lbs, with Purple the larger of the females. Pink & Red are tied for smallest at 2.31 lbs.

The pups are now old enough that they're not needing to nurse almost constantly anymore. This means that Misty gets to enjoy some 'me' time on her platform. Once pups are more mobile and we set up the potty area, her food and water will be up on the platform, too.

Individual puppy pics (Day 15) All pups that are not obviously sable appear to be some version of b/w or seal (more info here & here). Some of the pups currently appear dark grey, some with dark reddish brown hue, but it's very difficult to capture the color on camera. Green is the only one that is appearing pure black / white at this time.

So, looking quite different atm, but, we'll just have to wait and see how their colors develop as they mature.

Blue (m) This boy may be seal; he looks quite b/w here, but has a bit of reddish hue to his coat.

Gold (m) Shaded sable.

Green (m)

Black & white boy.

Red (m)

Red may be a seal; he looks quite b/w here, but has a bit of reddish hue to his coat.

Purple (f)

Sable with Black mask.

Silver (m)

Sable with black mask.

Peach (m)

This boy may be a silver seal. He looks quite b/w here, but he has a bit of greyish hue to his coat, as can be seen in the threesome on this blog post. He is one of the biggest pups this week, with a lovely broad head. He was also the least explorative during the photo shoot - although that is likely because his eyes are not yet open.

Pink (f)

This girl may be a silver seal; she has a bit of greyish hue to her coat. Although not as pronounced as Spot, this girl is also starting to show some tan around her eyes and in the harness area.

Spot (m)

This boy may be a silver seal; he has a bit of greyish hue to his coat. He's also demonstrating seal via the tan color around his eyes and on his backside (see last 3 pics)

Several puppy spots are reserved, but there are still some openings available. If you're interested in this litter (or want to be on a wait list for a future litter), please fill out our Application Form.
